Create your perfect day
Now that you’ve become more time aware —referring back to last week’s exercise on tracking your time— I invite you to start creating your perfect day. Because in my view, if you can create one perfect day, you can create a perfect life. By living one perfect day after another.
Day by day approach
With a perfect day, I don’t mean that nothing ever goes wrong. We don’t live in some sort of lala-wonderland. To me a perfect day is that you feel you’re in the drivers seat. With a clear vision and purpose towards where you want to go. Making each new day one to look forward to. Meaningful. Rewarding. Creating your dream life might feel overwhelming. But taking a day by day approach will help get you there. In this post I’ll share with you the steps how to do this.
“If you can imagine it, you can have it. That is the name of the game. That is the lesson to learn. It couldn’t be any easier. Reality is not what your eyes show your mind, but what your mind creates for your eyes to see. You are not limited by logic, the past, or the world around you.” This inspirational quote comes from one of the Notes from the Universe. (Which delivers you a daily burst of inspiration in your inbox for free — do check it out!) So let’s imagine your perfect day starting today.
First, take a blank piece of paper and a pen. And start to write down how in an ideal world, your perfect day would look like. From the moment you wake up (where? how? with who? and at what time?) to the moment you go to sleep. Just write down all the things —both big and small— you would like to have included in your ideal day. Make it as specific and lively as possible. You can do this exercise on your computer, but I recommend to go old skool and use your journal for this. For free writing exercises you want to download your thoughts, wishes and dreams onto paper without editing. Don’t worry. This is only for your eyes to see. Let yourself be surprised what comes to mind.
Review your notes
Once you’ve finished this free writing exercise, review your perfect day scenario. See which elements you could and (most importantly) want to incorporate in your life at this stage. Perhaps you want to take a walk outdoors during lunch time. Or rise a little earlier to catch-up on some reading or do your yoga exercise. You might decide to get out more often to meet your friends. Or actively find some spare moments to develop your business plan that will build your financial independence. Get creative here in finding ways to incorporate your perfect vision into your normal day.
Plan these activities
The magic is always in the doing. I encourage you to write down at least three elements from your perfect day in your diary for this week. And most importantly: stick to these appointments with yourself. By incorporating more and more elements from your perfect day in your normal routines, each day begins to transform into your perfect day. Building up to an ideal life!
Most importantly: enjoy the process of creating the life you desire. Infuse your life with activities you can look forward to. Crafting it day by day in the most perfect way!
