Where there is a way, there is a will
Personal Development is important. In my opinion we should all strive to bring the best version of ourselves to the table. That is what makes a true Marketing Superhero. My definition of a hero is an ordinary person doing extraordinary things. During a Personal Development course I did this weekend, I learned an amazing technique with which I doubled the time I can hold-in my breath.
Know-how is key
This breathing technique taught me a very valuable lesson — besides the knowing I should be able to swim longer under water, if that was my ambition. And that is this: If something seems impossible to do, it does not necessarily has to be the case. We are just not aware of a trick, technique or tool on how to do something better. We simply lack the right know-how.
Willpower alone is not enough
Before we learned this special technique — which was developed by Wim Hof aka The Iceman — we needed to hold in our breath for as long as possible. I am always up for a challenge. So I summoned up my willpower, inhaled deeply and hold it in for 49 seconds (not bad, right?). Can you imagine my excitement when I was able to hold my breath for a remarkable 1 minute and 24 seconds?
Success lies fully in implementation
The saying goes: where there is a will, there is a way. But after this weekend, I would like to turn that one around. Where there is a way, there is a will! You can really achieve more. You simply need to know how to do it better. As this experiment showed, learn new and better ways and you can do much more than you thought you were capable of. But remember, the true success lies in the actual doing. Insights and knowledge mean totally nothing, if you don’t act upon them.
