Creativity. The greatest Marketing Superpower of all

The greatest Marketing Superpower of all

I have shared with you in my ebook the seven powers of a true Marketing Superhero. But I omitted the ONE power which binds them all. The greatest Marketing Superpower is Creativity. The force with which we can generate new ideas, develop new strategies and literally create the world around us.

It is all in the mind

Our thoughts become our reality. With help of both our creative right brain and logical left brain, we can develop plans to change the world. Creativity is a powerful force of creation. There are multiple ways to fuel your creativity. For example by thinking in analogies. Nature often forms a great source of inspiration. Or force-fitting two random elements — like words or images — to come up with a new idea. It all comes down to Thinking Transferable and actively seeking ways how it can work for you.

Do a creative work-out

Creativity works like a muscle, it can be trained. When you work-out regularly, your muscles will become stronger. The same applies to your creative thinking. If you use it more, you will become better and better. A true Marketing Superhero does a regular creative work-out. Here are some ideas to help get you going.

Free writing

One great way to do a creative work-out, is to set-up a free writing routine. Preferably in the morning, or late at night before going to bed. Use pen and paper to capture your thoughts during these designated time slots. Just keep writing down your thoughts for two or three pages. Don’t worry too much about what comes up. Just write. Then review the outcome and make connections.

Think in images

Start to draw or cut out pictures from magazines. Make a collage. A picture says more than thousand words. It captures and translate emotions. So if you are stuck and don’t know what to do, grab a pile of magazines and tear out pictures. Imagine what your ideal outcome would look like. Along the way you will get clarity what needs to be done to get there.

Fresh eyes

Look at the world with fresh eyes. Take a step back and see the wider perspective. You will get a whole different view on your challenge. Examine the problem from various angels. If you continue doing what you have always done, you will get the exact same results you always have. If you want things to change, you need to alter your ways.

In this up coming week, I will be sharing tips and tricks on brainstorming — with your team or alone — to help you strengthen your creative Superpower. If you need a personal trainer to work-out your creative muscles? Contact me!
